• Are You Going To APEC?

  I am looking forward to sharing useful information with the power electronics community in short, uncomplicated blogs. There are lots of great power devices whether new and state of the art or tried and true -- to bring to your attention. I will also provide updates on emerging technologies that either enable advancements in power electronics such as wide bandgap semiconductors, or are enabled by new power electronics, such as wireless charging systems. As new resources become available, I want to highlight where to find them. I might also write about some of the great ways to connect with others for help with your power management questions or to network with like-minded folks. I also want to give you a heads-up on important industry events, such as the Applied Power Electronics Consortium (APEC).

• Young Eyes Offer Fresh Perspectives on Science

  I thoroughly enjoy going to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. I have gone many times with friends, family and dates. Going by myself is OK. Going with someone interested in STEM (Science, Technology and Math) is enjoyable, but going with someone with lots of energy and not as much scientific knowledge is the best.

• Going Griswold for the Holidays

  If National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation has taught me anything, it’s to not hold back on my insane desire to light up the house one Christmas, regardless of how many lumens get blasted into the neighborhood. A “Griswold” display used to be placing as many lights as your fuses could handle onto your house. As of late, it’s become more creative. A LOT more creative.

• Avengers Assembling

  When Mouser Electronics, in partnership with Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, asked me to bring superhero tech from the silver screen to life, it was literally a dream come true! And it’s perfect timing, because Captain American and Iron Man (two of my favorite heroes growing up) are about to go head-to-head on the big screen. Just like everyone else, I’ve been looking forward to this movie coming out for a long, long time. It’s going to be an all-out, epic battle.

• Internet of Things: Fad or Future?

  A lot of talk in the tech world lately has centered on an idea called “The Internet of Things”. What is “IoT”, as it is commonly abbreviated? Is it just the latest in a laundry list of tech buzzwords? Or is it something that is really going to change our lives?

• The Internet of Saving Things

  The Internet of Things is going to dramatically change the ways in which we manage the many Things in our lives. Just look at the changing nature of our personal possessions. One of the biggest changes for me is reflected in the size of my book, CD and DVD cases.
